Gregor Robertson

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure

Government of Canada

Before federal politics, Gregor Robertson began his public service as a Member of the British Columbia Legislature from 2005 to 2008. The decision to run for public office came after co-founding and leading Happy Planet, a sustainable food company, as well as running an organic farm.

He was elected in 2008 as Vancouver’s 39th and longest-consecutive serving mayor, serving until 2018. During that time, his team at city hall led Canada on climate action and affordable housing, working at the same time to strengthen partnerships with local First Nations. Vancouver became one of the country’s fastest-growing urban economies, recognized globally as one of the greenest and most livable cities in the world

In 2024, Gregor was named as Special Envoy for Cities in CHAMP, as well as Global Ambassador for the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy - the largest city climate alliance in the world with over 13,000+ cities in partnership. He represented not just Canada and Vancouver but cities all over the world at the United Nations and during COP climate negotiations.

Elected as the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Fraserview–South Burnaby in April 2025, Minister Robertson was appointed as Canada’s Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, as well as the Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development in 2025.

He and his wife Eila enjoy spending their time between BC, Ontario and New York, where they enjoy time with family, granddaughters, their beloved dog and friends.
